***Based on the BAO/LVO Format, Props to Frontline Gaming for their format!
Format/Scoring/Special Rules
Tournament Format - Every scenario has a total of 10 possible points. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game, wins. Equal points is a tie. The tournament is W/L/D format, with accumulated points used to determine standings within a given final bracket. For example, if you end the event with a 2-1 record, you will be ranked within that bracket according to how many battle points you accumulated throughout the event. The official scoring is 1,000pts for a win, 500pts for a tie and then accumulated points within the game. So, a player with a 2-1 record who accumulated 3 points in each of his 3 games would end with a final score of (2509 points). We score it this way so that the W/L/D record trumps accumulated points, but points earned throughout the tournament matter in determining your precise ranking in the event. Pairings are Swiss style, based on strength of schedule. After Saturday players will be seeded into brackets of 8 players with single elimination happening on Sunday.
***Please note, the Impending Doom (+1 to Seize the Initiative for a player facing a Super Heavy or Gargantuan LoW who does not have one), and Through Attrition, Victory (+1 Victory Point for every 3 Hull Points or Wounds done to a Super Heavy or Gargantuan LoW, counted towards the secondary mission) special rules will be in effect if either player in a given game has a Super Heavy or Gargantuan Creature Lord of War, but not for a Special Character LoW such as Draigo.
                                                                                       Rules Judgments
Rules issues will be dealt with swiftly by a roaming judge. We use a hierarchy for determining rules issues as follows:   Main Rule Book > FAQs and Erratas > ITC FAQ
Please note, the change to the 2+ reroll save is still in effect. Ie., any save of any type of a 2+ that can be rerolled is failed on the second roll of a 1,2 or 3.
The Invisibility Psychic Power has been modified as such: a unit shooting at a unit that is currently Invisible will hit at BS1 instead of Snap Firing. A unit attacking a unit that is currently invisible in melee hit’s on 5′s instead of 6′s.
Consensus of judges present at the time. Please note, that these judgments are final. We are da law!!!
Terrain
Hills: All rolling hills are open terrain, granting 4+ cover via LOS blocking/interference but do not count as difficult terrain.
Rock Towers, Crates, and Can Towers: Are impassible and block LOS completely (even if there are actual gaps in the terrain pieces).
All other terrain functions as outlined in the book BRB pg. 108-113.
Terrain Data Slates will not be used for this event.

Sports
Sportsmanship will be handled as a simple thumbs-up, thumbs-down check box on the results sheet.
The temptation to ding someone on sports after a tough loss is often too much for many players to resist. We therefore are providing a very narrowly defined set of terms under which a player may mark their opponent with a thumbs down mark on sportsmanship. This system is intended to punish those who are being abusive, but to not allow chimpmunking. After a great deal of real world use, we have found this system to work very well.
Legitimate reasons to give an opponent a thumbs down on sports:
Your opponent was 15 or more minutes late to the round.
Your opponent was verbally abusive. This does not mean you argued with your opponent or that your personalities clashed, but that they were verbally abusive and insulting.
Your opponent intentionally cheated. Be prepared to support your case to a judge.
Your opponent slow played. We define slow playing as not completing 3 game turns of play.
In the case of 20 or less minutes left to play, divide the time remaining between players to complete one full GAME turn. Time each other during this period to ensure that each player has an equal amount of time to complete a full game turn. If one player does not finish within their limit, the other player can force them to stop and then begin their turn. This mechanic is in place to ensure no one is slow played out of a turn of play.
What does NOT constitute a thumbs down on sports?
You argued over rules with your opponent.
Your opponent beat you.
You didn’t like your opponent’s army.
A negative mark on sportsmanship will be met with administrative action as follows:
First thumbs down: A verbal warning from a judge, up to reversing a win to a loss.
Second thumbs down: Reversing a win to a loss, up to disqualification from any prize support.
Third thumbs down: disqualification from any prize support, up to expulsion from the event with no refund of the ticket price.
Fourth thumbs down: Expulsion from the event with no refund of the ticket price.
Paint
3 colors minimum with basing is required, lack of paint will disqualify a player from awards, period!
*** A Best in Show Painting Award will be decided by the judges, it will be based on skill, and technique.

*Judges will rank a top 3 Armies subjectively, Best Overall rank wins, in event of a tie there will be a vote during the awards ceremony based on crowd noise from attendees

Important GT Announcements (Rules, price, dates, etc)

Happy Holidays Everyone!

So some announcements about the War in the Mountains GT coming at Ghengis Con Presidents day weekend 2015!

We are locked in with a total of 60 slots which is our target aim for this first year for the tournament. The GT will take place 10-6 on Saturday and 9-5 on Sunday of the weekend so plan travel accordingly. When buying tickets for the event you must buy a ticket for each day (Yes convoluted I know but its how Ghengis keeps track of event participation). Each day is $15 so $30 for the entire event and you will need a Con badge which can vary on whether you go for day passes or you would like to check out what the rest of the convention has to offer (always worth checking out some obscure games as the Convention is full of some great games that you may not have tried out in the past due to lack of interest from other gamers in your area, so check it out for the other days or time slots of the Con!

You can follow this link to buy your tickets when they become available! (when the convention booklet comes out)

also here for more updates on Ghengis

We will be following all the rules for the Las Vegas Open, (including any changes to Invisibility) to give everyone a proper preparation for for that event as well.

You can find full rules for the event here (ignore the schedule but the missions are correct)

So for some more exciting things we will be giving out a block of dice required to be used during the event, bring your dice as back up but in order to avoid any accidents we ask everyone to use the dice given out as a rule, we will also have plenty of other awesome prizes including the winners of the top 3 brackets given qualification spots for Feast of Blades 2015 and the overall winner of bracket one getting their full ticjet for Feast 2015!

So invite your friends! Have some fun! and Ill see you at Ghengis 2015!
